Pilots knee-board, used in-flight strapped to thigh for easy access to manuals & notes etc. Field grey painted steel folder with 3 ring binder catches, 3 screw grips & erzatz leather holder for 2 pencils. The spring closure catch & tab are typical of the type used on most WW2 German field equipment. This knee-board was fastened to the thigh with leather straps & square buckle. The straps are fastened to the 'board' by means of 2 MG34 sling fittings!! No FL number, Maker or date stamps on any part.
Contents include:- Radio frequency table for Norway. Flare pistol signal sequence table. Well used note pad for Aircraft I.D. - CE + LV with entries for 8th. May 1945 (8.5.45 )
There is a pencil written inscription on top / front panel -" F/sgt Hill E. 295 Squadron" indicating possible liberated souvenier. (295 Squadron saw service in major theaters of operations)
