Early sight box for the 5cm leichter Granatwerfer 36 (leGrW 36). Until 1938, it used a complicated telescopic sight, but was seen as too complex & by 1938 the optical sight was replaced by a simple white painted stripe on the barrel. This box is Tropical tan painted with makers mark 'B&C' and Waffenamt stamped. The closure catch has the typical pyramid in circle logo & has a canvas tab. There is also a web strap to secure when stored in a larger transit box. Minor scuffs & surface rust. Rare box in very good condition.
